Charles A. Horowitz
The practice of law is equal parts science, art, and sweat. My diverse intellectual and “real world” experiences, along with a strong work ethic, have informed my nearly 20-year professional career. Over that period, I have represented dozens of individual and business clients in state and federal court actions covering an array of practice areas. I believe in open and frequent communication with clients, and always place their interest first, focusing on creative, cost-effective means to resolve complex, seemingly intractable legal disputes.
I am a Hopkins, Minnesota native and graduate cum laude from Breck School in Golden Valley, at which I lettered in track and cross country and was a member of its semi-finalist High School Bowl team. In 1986, I received my Bachelors of Arts degree with Honors in European History from Cornell University in Ithaca, New York. During college, I participated in various extracurricular activities, including competing on the lightweight crew team and studying German one summer in Cologne, Germany.
In the three years following graduation, I held a variety of jobs, including deliveryman, store clerk, and paralegal, before pursuing my legal education. In 1991, I graduated in the top quarter of my class from Washington University in St. Louis School of Law, at which I served as an executive editor of the Washington University School of Law Journal of Urban and Contemporary Law.
Prior to establishing my own law firm in 2011, I was with the medium-sized Minneapolis firm of Mansfield Tanick & Cohen, P.A. for eleven years, initially as an associate and then as a partner. Before returning to Minnesota, I spent most of the 1990s in New York City, where I met my wife Robin, a librarian, and practiced law at the boutique Wall Street insurance defense firm of Speyer & Perlberg and the prestigious defense firm of Kasowitz, Benson, Torres & Friedman.
I am a member in good standing of the Minnesota and New York bars, and have written extensively on the topics of employment law, veteran’s rights and shareholder litigation.
Outside of work, I enjoy time with my family, music, bicycling, and photography.
